My 5 minute face for hot, humid weather!

My 5 minute face for hot, humid weather!

Despite being officially in Autumn, Sydney is still all over the shop on the temperature front and my nemesis – humidity – seems to be going nowhere fast. I love makeup – clearly, I have a large enough collection to support the whole cast of MAFS – but when everything’s a bit sweaty, I’ve learned that less is more and have a few faves that I roll out when I need to dial back the shine and stop my makeup from rolling down my face before I’m back from the school run. Here’s my ‘go to’ 5 minute face for sticky Sydney days.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream in Light – $61

Yes, this old chestnut. Sorry, I know that I’ve waxed lyrical/bored you about this product a million times, but if you haven’t tried it, trust me, it lives up to the hype. And I think that it comes into its own on sweaty days, as it’s lightweight and creamy but packs a powerful pigment punch, can be smooshed on in under a minute with your fingers and has a whopping SPF50 as well.  I’m pale and use actives regularly in my skincare routine so don’t rely on this as my main SPF, but like that I’m applying another layer of protection on to my skin.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder – $43

I was so chuffed when Mecca brought Laura Mercier back to Australia as I’m nearly out of the Secret Brightening Powder and don’t like to be without this mini pot of goodness. I use quite emollient eye creams and find that the only way to stop my mascara wandering (on hot days) is to sweep a fine layer of this under my eyes. It’s finely milled, so not cakey and very handy for us more mature ladies! Said with sarcasm obviously; I’m no lady!

Becca Beach Tint – $38

I flush at the drop of a hat – the redhead’s curse – so throw humidity and heat into the mix and I’m in danger of looking like I’ve just been dropped in boiling water. Cue this little beauty.  I steer away from pink shades in the hot weather as I don’t need to amplify my natural shade of strawberry and this is a pretty coral shade; it gives a nice flush of colour and counteracts the pink subtlely. It’s a ‘squeeze and you’re done’ easy peasy kind of product and I’m all for that when I’m hot and bothered.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in Coachella Coral – $49

And not to be too ‘matchy matchy’, as I’m not a fan of the tonal look, I then like a little swipe of the super hydrating Coachella Coral as it makes me feel nice and ‘done’ without trying too hard. And I’ve spoken at length about the superiority of Charlotte Tilbury lippies and my obsession with them so nuff said.

Urban Decay Allnighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray – $49

And finally, and the necessary icing on the cake, is a spritz of this bad boy to lock it all in to place. And it really works, keeping my skin looking fresh and my makeup pretty much where it’s supposed to be whilst I battle the elements and get on with the day. I’ve gone through countless bottles and need to stock up again as it’s a lifesaver.

So, there are my go-to makeup products for when it’s hot and humid.  What are yours?
