Most mornings find me refereeing inane discussions before they devolve into full out warfare so with my reluctant peacekeeping duties, packing lunchboxes, filling in permission slips, finding matching socks, unearthing library books from under the sofa and staving off play date requests, I have very little time to get my cosmetic groove on.
But I love make up and let’s be honest bloody love those few precious moments in a room with no small people, so have managed to pare back my routine to 5 minutes to make sure that I still have the time to bring some life back to my face.
Here’s how I get from harassed to half decent and let me tell you, it’s all about the bop..cue Hanson and an insight into how old I am..and if you don’t know who they are then I don’t think that we can be friends quite frankly!
Yes your Beautyblender is your best friend here and whilst I’m a big fan of the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge, the one and only Beautyblender comes into its own here as you bop your way to presentability.
Step 1: swiftly cleanse/moisturise/get that eye cream on ..obvs!
Step 2: apply a cheeky layer of L’Oréal NUDE MAGIQUE Cushion foundation. It’s sheer, super natural and evens out your skin without looking like you’ve got much on. I’m a 3.
Step 3: keeping with the L’Oréal family, and still using the Beautyblender apply GLAM BRONZE CUSHION DE SOLEIL cushion to the high points of your face to give that ‘I’ve just come back from Fiji’ look. I in fact never tan so am a perennial bronzer user to give the illusion of a tan/make me look alive. Sad but true…the joys of being a ginger!
Step 4: hanging on to that BeautyBlender for the final flourish, bop on a pretty flush of blush with Stila Aqua Glow Watercolour Blush in Rosewater.
Step 5: throw on a light coat of mascara, my current fave – and an oldie but a goody – is MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash as it’s one of the only ones that doesn’t smudge on me these days.
Step 6: a quick shake and layer of the Lancôme Juicy shaker in Piece of Cake..and you’re done.
Step 7: step away from the mirror and your new best friend the now grubby Beautyblender. You’re done. It’s pretty and natural but makes me feel able to navigate..ok survive..the walk to school, and hopefully not scare my neighbours and school mum mates in the process. Result!
